A long fitted mermaid style dress with a deep V neckline and low back. The v shaped openings under my arms complemented the style of my dress as well the slit alongside my left leg. My dress also had a long train to finish off the look.
This dream dress was made of black velvet sequin material and was designed and made by Genevieve Atelier in Stellenbosch.

Wat was jou inspirasie vir jou matriekafskeidrok?
The inspiration for my dress was the words 'Showstopper, shimmer and shine'. The goal was to design a dress that was striking, bold and gave off a 'wow' factor that allowed my dress stand out whilst still being timeless and elegant. I opted for the colour black as it a classy colour and the combination of the black velvet sequin material elevated the look to another level. Since my dress was a combination of black and silver, I accessorised by wearing high heels, a clutch and long silver diamente earrings to match the dress perfectly.
I wore simple makeup with a bold red lip and a sleeked back ponytail to achieve an 'Oscars Red Carpet Look' to bring the focus to my dress.

The black velvet sequin material was the favourite part of my dress. It was unique, striking and bold. The colour popped against my skin tone. I loved the way that my dress sparkled in the light. Even with loadshedding with the room being completely dark, the sequins on my dress continued to sparkle.
Despite my dress being velvet sequined material, my dress was far from heavy and uncomfortable. I could dance the night away without feeling restricted. I even had a loop attached at the bottom of my dress to hook up the train of my dress to ensure that no one stepped on it while I was dancing.
I truly felt exquisite and confident within my skin wearing my dream dress!
