Leandra Fourie, a local designer in Port Elizabeth, designed the dress of my dreams and I loved wearing it.

Wat was die inspirasie agter jou matriekafskeidrok?

I didn't exactly go to my dress maker, Leandra, with much of a detailed description as to what I wanted my dress to look like. I wasn't one hundred percent sure on what I wanted, but I did know one thing. I wanted to feel like a princess, and I think it's safe to say that Leandra made that wish come true. She took all my snippets of ideas that were all over the place and effortlessly merged them into one, in front of my eyes. I remember watching her draw a picture of my dress at my first appointment and I instantly fell in love with it.

Wat beteken jou matriekafskeidrok vir jou?

To me, my matric dance dress symbolises the end of my high school career and the beginning of my adult life. It's a reminder of how far I've come and a way to celebrate the end of a journey, but also the start of a new and exciting one.

Hoogtepunt van die matriekafskeid

I loved seeing my friends all dressed up, especially those who I never see dolled up. I also remember being shocked when I saw some of their dresses as it was my first time seeing them. They all looked so gorgeous on the night, and it filled me with such joy seeing how beautiful and confident they were in themselves.
