I found my dress at Coco Belle Boutique. It was designed by Ladivine, a premier Los Angeles fashion house celebrated for creating timeless gowns that blend modern sophistication with effortless allure. Because the design was newly released and still unnamed, I was given the special honour of naming it myself. I chose “The Onyx Storm” — a name that captures both its dramatic elegance and striking presence.

You always hear what colours and styles everyone else is planning, and it makes you wonder whether to blend in or stand out. For me, the choice was easy — I wanted to be bold and unforgettable. When my mom, sister and I visited the boutique, I had a general idea of what I wanted, but then that dress caught my eye. It wasn’t anything like what I’d imagined, yet it felt completely right. It was the first dress I tried on — and the one I couldn’t stop thinking about. The fact that it was black, my favourite colour, made it all come together perfectly.

I never imagined myself in a ball gown, which makes it even more special — sometimes the most beautiful things find you when you least expect them. My dress will always be a reminder of how much love and effort my parents put into making me feel extraordinary that night. My mom told me, “You only get to dress up like this a few times in your life, so go all out and enjoy every moment.” And that’s exactly what I did.

The highlight of my farewell was seeing all my friends — everyone looking incredible in their dream dresses and sharp suits. It was amazing to see each person’s style and personality come through, right down to the choice of heels and ties. As the sun began to set, the sky turned shades of deep orange, red and gold, casting a glow over everyone that felt almost magical. It was one of those moments you just want to freeze in time.
