I designed my dress from ideas from different dresses I saw on the internet and added my own twist to it to make it unique. I was given creative freedom, and I used that as an opportunity to put my creativity to the test. Thanks to my dressmaker, RJ Couture, my vision came to life beautifully. I wanted my dress to be something I could wear more than once instead of it just hanging in my closet for years.

Wat was jou inspirasie vir jou matriekafskeidrok?

Originally, I always wanted to wear something like a woman's suit for my Matric Ball because I was never a dress girl. However, I saw this as an opportunity to completely surprise my friends, family and even myself by doing the unexpected. Overall, this was an opportunity for me to step out of my comfort zone and not only surprise my loved ones but also prove to myself that there is beauty outside of my comfort zone.

My favorite part about my dress is that it's a two-piece. I can now wear the corset top with different bottoms, depending on the occasion. I also felt comfortable and confident in the dress. I also loved seeing everyone's reactions to me in a dress after months of it being a secret between myself, my mom and the dressmaker.
