I had designed my dress with Lynmarie Griffioen (Lynmarie Griffioen couture). It is a multi layered emerald green dress with gold embroidered cherry blossoms and black lace sleeves. It has a traditional Chinese collar. The multiple layers are emerald green, gold and black. The dress has two slits, inspired by traditional Chinese designs, on one of the sides it has 4 Chinese buttons. This dress has an open back as well as an opening below the collar and sleeves. It is a modern take on traditional Chinese royal fashion.

I have a love for anime and Asian culture, I wanted to express this in my dress, as it is said that your dress is an extension of you what you love. My love for Asian culture is seen most evidently in the two symmetrical slits, collar and buttons along the side and back.

My favorite part about my matric graduation dress is that it was an experience I had with my mom. We traveled together to Cape Town to purchase the perfect fabrics and accessaries, we designed it together with Lynmarie Griffioen. It was a beautiful experience and will always have a special place in my heart, and in every part of that dress there is a piece of her love. With that being said another this that I love most is the fact that it is a unique dress, instead of coping a Pinterest design or making something people have seen before, my dress is a completely new and personalized design. It expresses myself as an individual.
